Which car is best in India, your choices are limited

Cover Image for Which car is best in India, your choices are limited

Main criteria people have for cars

  • Should look bulky on Road (Fortuner, Thar type of guys)
  • Best milage (Maruti guys)
  • Strong build (Tata guys)
  • Fun to drive (VW guys)

Do you know Indian car market is not in very good shape right now. Lets consider Toyota which is considered one of the best brand for realibility but what it is doing currently in India ? taking Maruti quality cars and putting badge of Toyota over it. All brands are not putting much money in R&D in india and launch almost similar cars be it Skoda and Volkswagen, Huyundai and Kia, Maruti and Toyota etc etc.

Second biggest problem in India is that we have accepted that our roads will only become worse and worse and we must pick a SUV car because even though sedan car is best in comfort, drive exprience but ground clearnce is weakest point.

People do conside build quality and feature more than realibility for driving exrience of a car like they are buying tank or feature rick mobile phone.

Type of engine available in India

Although engines are mainly 1 litre or 1.5 litre in India for pertrol only (we don't talk diesel today and electric vechile's infrastructure is not very mature today) but people have started creating a hype around turbo engines. Yes turbo engine have anderline rush but only after a certain RPM below that they are not fun to drive and preditable performance is any day better that jhu-jhuk.

Sedan and Hatchback in India

Most of the car companies have stopped selling hatchback or sedan in India and only focusing on big boy in town that is look of a SUV car. There was a time when big cars were only available as public vechile becuase of less comfort but high ground clearance and ruggedness foget the drive exprience and comfort.

Is Electric car a future in India ?

Big no for me, we are far away from the infra that we need. Think about a day you are on a long trip and need to fill your tank in some mountain, even if you are lucky and get an electric reachrage station still you will have to wait hours to get your battery full in comparision to 10-15 min to fill the petrol.

Buying a car is mainly because of I want to drive a car and with option mergin to fake suv is not very fun, yes automatic is future but has a high repair cost for any failure which are quite common in traffic that we all face in every city in India(yes mountains are included now :) )
